Explanation

Selected alternatives for you
This challenging mountain bike circuit extends below the Gaislachkogl.

From the Freizeit Arena, head into the valley on the main road towards the BP gas station, then turn right shortly before it towards Innerwald. Passing the hamlets of Außer- and Innerwald, you'll reach the glacier road, which you leave again after about 700 meters. Here, the steadily ascending, paved path towards Gaislachalm begins. Initially, the forest provides some shade, but soon you'll emerge onto sunny alpine meadows.

The route takes you past the rest stops Sonneck, Gaislachalm, Silbertal, and Heidealm, up to the highest point of the tour: the mid-station of the Gaislachkogl cable car. Afterwards, a paved path takes you to the glacier road, which then leads you back down into the valley.

The nearly 20 km long mountain bike tour to Gaislach starts at the Freizeit Arena in Sölden. From there, head straight past the municipal office and cross the bridge to reach Dorfstraße. Turn left and follow the main road. The leisurely ride through the village passes sports shops and numerous rest stops. After about 1 km, turn right at the intersection before the BP gas station (marked H). Here, the road gently ascends above Sölden to the hamlet of Außerwald. At the next fork, follow Lärchenstraße uphill, then continue towards Seestraße. At the next intersection, choose the left path and continue on Außerwaldstraße. Soon you will reach the first houses of the small hamlet of Außerwald. After passing Alpengasthof Grüner, keep left at the next junction and go straight until you reach the next houses in Innerwald. At the first houses, keep right and follow Innerwaldstraße through the hamlet. Always follow the paved road, which soon leads slightly downhill. You will soon reach the intersection with the glacier road. Here, take the right path towards the glacier and Hochsölden. The bike tour continues on the glacier road. After about 5 km, you will have completed the 4 challenging hairpin bends of the glacier road. Just before the toll station, turn sharply left and follow the gravel road towards the Gaislachkoglbahn mid-station. After a short climb, you will soon reach the highest point of the tour, the Gaislachkoglbahn mid-station. At 2,174 meters, the gravel road continues level, past the mid-station and always heading into the valley. Soon the path leads slightly downhill. Follow the signs towards Gaislachalm. At the next fork, turn left and soon reach the alm. Gaislachalm is the oldest alpine inn at over 2,040 meters and invites you to stop. After a short break, follow the gravel road below Gaislachalm. Soon you will pass Gasthof Sonneck (another rest stop). Continue following the wide gravel road downhill, through dense forest, and after almost 3.5 km you will reach the paved glacier road again. At hairpin 1 of the glacier road, turn off again and follow Innerwaldstraße back, passing through the hamlets of Innerwald and Außerwald again, and soon return to the Dorfstraße in Sölden. Follow this back to the starting point.
