Ice Skating Rinks

Conquer the icy dance floor

Floating elegantly on the ice - even if this idea can't be put into practice a hundred percent right from start, ice skating simply creates a good mood. And after the first restrained attempts everyone will get enthusiastic very soon. In addition to the well-groomed artificial ice rinks, where team athletes can give curling a try, Ötztal also offers a breathtaking natural ice rink on frozen Lake Piburger See.

Ice curling and ice hockey team sports

Let the curling stone glide precisely on the icy surface. Not as easy as it sounds on the first try. If you like playing in a team, curling is the right activity. In contrast to ice hockey matches no equipment is necessary, except for the curling stone and target button. The more people, the more exciting is the tournament. By the way, why don't you treat yourself to a glass of mulled wine which tastes deliciously.

Frequently asked questions about ice curling

Ice stock sport is a sociable winter activity that is particularly widespread in the Alps and has a long tradition. In addition to some artificial ice rinks where curling can be practiced, Ötztal in Tirol also offers a very special experience for pursuing this sport: in winter, if the ice layer is thick enough, alpine curling can be played in a scenic idyll on the natural ice surface of lake Piburger See. The shoes for curling should definitely be non-slip, as you play on a smooth and quite slippery surface. In addition, waterproof and lined shoes are not a disadvantage at all, since you don't move too much when ice curling and moisture can accumulate in the shoes. Many people also rely on shoes with a higher shaft, which provides additional stability.
