Getting in close touch with the mountain

Nothing else will bring you closer to the snow-covered slopes, rocky mountain flanks and glistening peaks: literally, to the essence of Ötztal Valley. Ski tours at all levels of difficulty, comprising also the Eastern Alps' "Hautes Routes", attract alpinists to the rear Ötztal. Especially in spring, you can indulge in silent and authentic nature exploration off the groomed ski slopes.

Sölden Ski Tour Tips

From Sölden a number of great ski tours at different difficulties are available. Tourists can reach the higher starting points comfortably with the Sölden mountain lifts, at their top stations they can immediately indulge in the seemingly endless, white backcountry terrain. With a little luck they will also make the first line on corn snow slopes or powder stashes.

Classic ski mountaineering highlights to some of Tirol's most attractive three thousand meter high summits, including also Wildspitze peak, are available here:

Ötztal Tourismus assumes no liability for the tours and tips listed. It is strongly recommended to enlist a certified mountain guide. Glacier crossings are only possible in a group by using a rope. Study the daily updated avalanche report before setting out on a tour and inform someone in the valley about your destination and when you plan to be back. Ski touring might be one of the most scenic winter sports but: safety always comes first!
